Brooke Shields recently introduced a new haircare brand called Commence. Although the products are suitable for people of all ages, the renowned model and actress specifically designed them for women over 40. The brand aims to celebrate this stage of a woman’s life, which is both unfamiliar and exciting.
Inspired by an Online Community
During the global pandemic, Shields missed being part of a community, so she created an online space for women over 40 to discuss the changes related to menopause. The famous actress and model found support and a sense of belonging within this group of positive women, and they all quickly noticed the lack of effective, high-quality, and attainable haircare products for women as they age.
This led to the creation of her new haircare brand catering to women over 40, called Commence. They’re great for any hair type, and currently, a shampoo, serum, and leave-in conditioner are available, all priced reasonably. Shields worked with Mark Knitowski, known for his over 20 years of work with Victoria’s Secret. The shampoo is both hydrating and oil-absorbing, the leave-in helps soften the strands, and the root serum aims to help increase density.
An Exciting New Journey
The formulas contain four key ingredients that are meant to encourage hair growth, soothe and moisturize the scalp, and thicken existing strands, all addressing issues older women tend to have with their hair. Despite being aimed at middle-aged women, anyone can use the products.
Shields has discussed how she feels thrilled about being in her late 50s, more comfortable with herself and her body. Thanks to humans living longer, she wants to make sure that women in middle age can continue to love themselves and love how they look. She wants Commence to help women feel confident and beautiful and celebrate where they are in their lives.
